Part2 Part1 :

Bryce Laser Beams (Part 2)

Now, with both the spheres selected, copy and paste. Get the "Edit" menu up by clicking on "Edit". Click on the little double arrow (at poit "A"). This gives you the option to change the current selection to any of the bryce primitive objects. We are going to change the copied spheres to radial lights, so select the radial light icon (the round, yellow one) from the list.
Now they are lights, click on the little "E" button next to them to enter the edit dialogue. Change the colour of the light to the colour of your beams. Also, depending on the scale of your scene, you may want to reduce or increase the strength of the light, (I turned my down to 10)
Right, it should look like this. Now select one of the spheres and it's corresponding light. Group them (click on the little "G" button) and name the group "Laser 1" (by clicking on the little "A" button.

Do the same for "Laser2". Now select both Lasers and the TIE and group them.

Now you can position and rotate the whole group within your scene.
To "fire" the laser beams away from the craft, do the following. Select on of the beams by going to the drop down menu (in pic). Select Groups>Laser1.

Now we can move the beam independantly of the TIE without ungrouping.

Now, to move the beam relative to itself we are going to change to "Object Space". Select it from the drop down within the Edit menu. Now, use the position tool in the edit menu to pull the beam along it's long axis - The beam fires from the craft! Great fun!
When you've finished dragging the beam back and forth whilst making "zap" noises, you might like to render the scene. It should look something like this!

I hope this tutorial has been useful - don't hesitate to email me or post to the forum with any questions!

Cheers!
