Corrosion is a beautiful thing. Rust paints it's own art on sheet metal. That's how I feel about it, so long as it's not my car we're talking about! I'd always meant to do a collection of this sort, as they really are my favourite kind of textures. So with camera in hand I set out to source the rustiest, dirtiest, most neglected bits of junk I could find! And here's the result, 17 textures including 14 high resolution, photographic, seamless textures and 3 alpha maps.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Using These Textures

These textures can be used in any 3D application. Bryce is my favourite, so I've included tips on using them in that program. They're fairly general tips however, so should be relevant whatever your software.

In Bryce, use these textures to drive the diffuse, ambient and bump channels. To drive the bump, the texture must have an alpha value. You create this simply by copying the image into the alpha channel of the texture in the material picture editor.

Most of these textures work well with a bump value of 30% (or -30% depending on which way you want the bump to go)

Click on the thumbnails on the left to see more details on the specific textures.
